Come and Get It

This semester, I've been in charge of ordering food for Sunday nights. Housing wants to give students some dinner options since the dining halls are closed on the weekends. Usually, it's no big deal for me to order and pre-pay for food during the week and have one of my staff go pick it up. I try to get things that range from typical pizza to sandwiches from various places near by.

Tonight I couldn't pre-pay over the phone because I ordered from the fabulous Olive Garden. I love that place. And I love the smell in my car after transporting two huge lasagnas and loads of bread sticks and salad. Very delicious.

After the crowds died down, one resident approached me and said I should have ordered more food because man, he wants seconds. I told him that I have a very limited budget to work with and that I hope he appreciates that Housing is going beyond what is required by offering free food.

Nope. Doesn't seem to care that we tried. Still complained that he couldn't have seconds. Gee, take a look at the poor kid who only had salad.

Thankfully, there were a number of students who turned to me before settling down with their plates and offered me a sincere thank-you. You know what? My pleasure. I'm glad I was able to help out a bit. I wish we could buy enough food for all the students who come through the lobby, but I'm glad that most of the time when we run out, people understand.

And hey, now there's a little kitchen available for you to use. So if you didn't get lasagna tonight, head over to Wal-Mart and buy their $3 frozen version of the Olive Garden classic. It's not too bad at all. My only plea is that you'll manage NOT to burn the place down.
