It is so hard for me to categorize books. Should I just go alphabetically? By genre? Yeah, I just don't know.

I tried to give this list some sort of order to it... but in the end I broke down and it became categorized like "Author I Love, Whose Books I Read a TON." Anyway, take a look at this and just pick and choose however you'd like. Books are great and the following are some favorites of mine:

Spiritual/Life Philosophies:

Living Yoga by Christy Turlington
The Language of Yoga by Nicolai Bachman
Ashtanga Yoga, The Practice Manual by David Swenson
Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey
The Nest Newlywed Handbook by Carley and Roney
Jesus the Christ by James Talmage
The Miracle of Forgiveness by Spencer Kimball
If Life Were Easy, It Wouldn't Be Hard by Sheri Dew
Eternal Marriage Student Manual
The Holy Temple by Boyd Packer

Classic British Literature:

The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Chick Lit Authors I Love:

Marian Keyes
Helen Fielding
Jane Green
Emily Giffin
Emma Mclaughlin
Meg Cabot

Historical Fiction:

A Break with Charity by Ann Rinaldi
The Fifth of March by Rinaldi
In My Father's House by Rinaldi
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
Germinal by Emile Zola
Sophie's Choice by William Styron

Beautiful Stranger by Hope Donahue
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (I've ready a number of her books! Check them out!)
Slim To None by Jennifer Hendricks
Three Cups of Tea by Mortenson and Relin
The Diary of Young Girl by Anne Frank
Five Chimneys by Olga Lengyel
Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda

The Awakening by Kate Chopin
Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller (actually a play)
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The Yoga Mamas by Katherine Stewart
Tristan by Gottfried Von Strassburg
The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
While I Was Gone by Sue Miller
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
Harry Potter (series) by J.K. Rowling
Twilight (series) by Stephenie Meyer
Anne of Green Gables (series) by L.M. Montgomery

As you can see, I read a lot. And I'm proud to read from a variety of genres. The books I've listed are mostly the books currently on my shelves. More often than not, I get books from the Library so I don't have more books than I know what to do with. I absolutley hate moving books from apartment to apartment. I hate having six different books shelves in my living that fail miserably trying to keep all my books organized! So that is why I'm a strong advocate of the library. Even if it's so ghetto that I get asked for money every time I go.

Please, if you have any suggestions for me leave them in my comments. I always love investigating new authors.

I recommend checking out Kelly's blog because she has a link to her book club, Spotted Puppy. There are even more suggestions there as well as discussions about books currently being read in the online club. Have fun!

  1. You just reminded me how much I loved the Mayor of Casterbridge and the Sherlock Holmes stories. Now I want to read them again!
