Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that I am Wonder Woman. I am so proud of myself today.

On my personal calendar, I scribbled a note that organizing the basement is a goal for September. Here on the blog, I made the same commitment. This week, I checked it off my list. ALREADY.

It's all attributed to Kev working later than me. I get bored. But seriously, I have been so productive this week it's scary. Monday was all about getting the yard taken care of (pick up apples/pears, mow, weed-whack, water), doing dishes, laundry (did it at work!) and rewarding myself with Yoga.

Tuesday was all about sitting in the yard with a magazine (enjoying my hard work from Monday) while Maddie ate sticks. That got boring after a while, plus this fly kept hounding (totally unintentional pun) Maddie. She was chasing that bug around so much it annoyed me and we went inside. That's when I got to work.

I tackled a pile of bags in the bedroom. I thought the bags actually had stuff in them. Wrong. I chucked those down the stairs and kept organizing. When I had everything basement-bound, I went to our storage room and didn't stop. It was so satisfying to get all the empty boxes situated against the walls and then arrange everything else in easy-access corners of the room. It is so fantastic to be able to walk through that little room and access everything that's stored down there. I wish I'd taken a "before" photo so you could compare it to the "after." Just imagine everything in the middle of the room.

To give you an idea of what the basement is like, here's the view from the stairs. This part of the basement is untouchable right now. There's the old water heater that needs to go (and the box for the new one!!); the washer and dryer are sitting in the way of everything, waiting to be hooked up; the "72-hr kit" is in the white bucket you see on the left... and so much more. I'll handle this part later. Straight ahead is the room that used to be a disaster.

Behold the fruits of my labor!!

It doesn't look that amazing in a photograph, but I assure you the difference is note-worthy. Kev was impressed.

Next task? The garage. It'd be nice to actually keep a car in there.
