Generational

My mom gave me a lot of things. Well, yeah, she made me. She also gave me a love for dogs. I grew up with Boston Terriers and I love them. Their snorty little squished noses. Their black-spotted foreheads. Their stubby little tails. They're so pretty (hi Bacci!). However, they are a little expensive, so I resorted to adopting a dog from a shelter instead of shelling out beaucoup bucks for a pure-bred Boston. I think the closest I'll ever get to one of those is one of these:

A French Bulldog.

Kev really likes them. It's like, the manly version of a Boston (except Bostons were originally bred to be fighting dogs. EGADS!! So that makes them pretty manly in my book). It's funny, the American Kennel Association states that black is one of the "unacceptable" colors for Frenchies-- and it's my favorite!! I'm all about nontraditional, people.

One of the other fun things about Frenchies is that they were originally bred as ratters. Meaning, they hunted out the vermin on your property and kept you a happy fella. Maddie does the same thing!! Look at how fierce she is:

Please accept my apologies regarding picture quality. It was hastily taken this morning as I blow-dried my hair.
Aren't you just shakin' in ya boots? Watch out!!

I'm so glad my mom passed this love onto me. Maddie has been such a great addition to my life with Kev. I look forward to the day when I have a fenced in yard and another dog so Maddie has a best friend other than Kev. And me, of course.

  1. I love Frenchies. I think if we were to get another dog, that's what we'd get. They're SO cute. I love the way they waddle...

  2. My son LOVES dogs too. I don't know where he got it from. My husband is terrified of them after a traumatic childhood experience and I don't really care either way. My poor kid wants one so bad, but I don't think it will ever happen.

  3. So cute. Both the Frenchie and your real dog. You are a good doggy mama.
