Vent

Guess what.

I don't really have anything to vent about today. SURPRISE!! Quite the shock, I know.

But maybe if I dig down deep enough I can find something that makes me scratch my head a wee bit and wonder what this world is coming to.

**********

You're in luck, I just thought of something-- how convenient!

How come a lady on campus thought it was appropriate to put me on a conference call with a parent and scold me regarding something she thought I'd done in error (but actually hadn't done at all!!)? I'm sorry lady, but if a student doesn't pay, the meal plan gets deactivated. We can't let students have something for which they are not paying. Oh, and by the way, since this particular student actually DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL weeks ago, I'm not the one who turned off his meal plan. The University did. Because he's not a student anymore. So I guess you told me off and made me cry in front of my boss for no reason. Thanks!

Yup. That's my job peeps. I have to do mean things when students don't pay, and then my University counter-parts yell at me while parents are on the line. They tell me it's unethical, even though it is clearly stated in the student contract what our course of action is regarding nonpayment. PLUS we send out notices the 3rd and 7th days after payment is due. They reiterate what is in the contract regarding nonpayment repercussions. It's not like I just gleefully write emails to the meal plan people and randomly shut off access for students I don't like.

Although that might be fun.

Just kidding.

Really.

  1. Yep, you need a new job. That sounds even more awful than the worst parts of mine. Stupid economy probably isn't creating many jobs, though, huh?

  2. I love being in control of people being able to eat.
If my husband or kids are acting up, then sorry, NO SOUP FOR YOU!

  7. Yup. This is a highlight of all things fabulous in my job. I knew this is what I signed up for when I took the job, but I was unprepared for the complete lack of administrative support.

Guess what- college kids LIE. Which is usually why 80% of the situations I deal with are so frustrating. The Admin at the university is basing their judgements of me and my actions on lies.

*sigh* Send good vibes my way.
