Proof that I'm not cut out to be a bill collector.

I need to take mental health weekends more often. Like... every weekend. I just couldn't believe how happy I felt being away from Ogden for just two days. I walked around like a new person, seeing everything for the first time. "Oh look! Sunshine! Oh look! Birds! Oh look! Grass!"

The drive out to Midway was fabulous. It was originally settled by Swiss immigrants, and the architecture, both new and old, resembles that heritage. Everything was so quaint. Even the giant mansions off I-80.

When we got to the resort, we unloaded our bags and then hiked right up the 78 stairs to the top of the famous crater. The opening on top is capped off by a metal grate, but you can still peek down and see the water (and scuba divers!) below.

The weather was perfect for me. I couldn't have been happier.

And Kev really liked his burger. If you go to The Homestead, please please please eat at Fanny's Grill. We had a voucher for free breakfast, so we didn't feel one bit guilty eating there for dinner.

I didn't feel one bit guilty feeding the ducks either. This one caught bread in his mouth. I think it's because he swims all day in mineral water pumped from the crater into the duck pond.

On the way back to our room (to change for swimming!) I noticed these skis on display. Check out the lower right-hand corner...

That's right! Good old Freeport.

I think I'm handling the disappointment of being back to real life pretty well. Despite the SNOW outside this morning. Yes. Snow.

I have more photos to share, but that will probably have to wait until tomorrow.

  1. Sounds like a well deserved, nice and relaxing weekend. I've been wangting to go up to Midway, its up kinda by park city right?

  2. It's just past Park City off I-80. It's considered the country version of staying in PC. It's so amazing. I love that place so much, and loved going for RA training back in the day.

Thanks for stopping by!
