The pilgrimage

Going to IKEA is rejuvenating. I don't know why. It's actually quite exhausting to maneuver the warehouse and lug heavy boxes and find the right colors and touch everything.

But I love it. I go about once a month, even though I don't know how that happens. At least I have pretty good restraint and don't always spend more money than a person should during one outing.

I was able to hit up IKEA over the weekend with a super old and super beloved friend of mine. Maybe that's what made it so rejuvenating- the fact that as we ate our chicken fingers and fries we were able to catch up on each others' lives while also reminiscing about the past we share. I think we go back to age 13 or so. There is a lot of past between us! It's embarrassing the photos we have of those years.

Now we're both married (three years for both of us in June!), we're working full-time, we're fixing up our houses, we're getting ready for families (she's due in October!), and trying to have fun during it all.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's not perfect at growing up. It's nice to know that I have friends like Kristie who have known me through the years and who still love me. You know what else is great? Kris is experienced in social work, so compared to some of the people she sees on a daily basis, I'm completely normal!

  1. Three cheers for Ikea, three cheers for old friends, and three cheers for realizing your life could be suckier.

Oh, and three cheers for not being at work today.

Thanks for stopping by!
