We've gone a little whiskey tango around here.

Maddie snapped her collar off three times this week. Meaning: on three different occasions she pulled so hard on her leash while tethered to a tree in the yard that she broke out of the collar and successfully ran across the street to meet a new three-month-old puppy who lives three houses down.

Not so great.

Yesterday, on the third instance of Maddie breaking free, she actually broke the collar. Kev was still at church while Mads and I were lounging in the shade of the side yard. So. No collar. But I was not done with being in the yard. Not even close.

I put a harness on her and tethered her again. Then Kev came home and Maddie barfed twice. Irrelevant to the story, but still. It happened.

Kev, being the endlessly talented person that he is, fashioned a new collar for Maddie since it was Sunday and we refrain from shopping on our Sabbath.

One of the many perks of being married to a climber is the abundance of webbing and rope available to a person in a tricky situation. As you can see, Miss Maddie now has a lovely and thick piece of red webbing to keep her under control until a permanent replacement is purchased.

Criteria for the replacement? No plastic pieces. Yes, her old collar is going on two years old, but I'm not taking any more chances.

  1. that is such a cute picture of her! Love the reds!

  2. Thats too bad she broke her collar, thats nice Kevin was able to make her a new one, since it happened on Sunday. It looks pretty good.

Thanks for stopping by!
