I think I totally rock at setting goals for myself.

Ok. So. Like, 8 minutes ago I wrote a post about keeping up with current/old friends and also putting forth effort to make new friends.

Not to toot my own but *toot toot*. Since writing that post last week, I have had successes in both areas.

When Kev told me he'd be going to Zion over last weekend I decided that I'd have a get-together with some girlfriends. I put the ball in motion and invited three sweet, newish friends to come over to my Pink House on Friday night. When Kev's plans fell through he (being the great friend he is) made plans to spend time out of the house with his friends Friday night. Not a single boy crashed our party. While we didn't do anything out of the ordinary, I had fun watching "Enchanted" and an almost-two-year-old in the front room. Also... I really had fun stuffing my face with kettle corn and raspberry pound cake.

To keep up my momentum, I committed to visiting Nikki and her sweet little family on Saturday. But who am I kidding? I love that little new baby so much that I was due to visit her again. Kev came along too to meet the baby for the first time. It was lovely to touch those teeny tiny fingers and toes and to see her kicking around and opening her eyes! I didn't get to see that on her birthday because she was all wrapped up and sleeping to recover from that whole birth thing.

I didn't lose any steam this week either. Holly came up to Ogden on Monday and randomly texted me about getting together for lunch. With food being involved, I didn't need any other motivation to tell my boss I'd be leaving early and wouldn't be returning until the next day. It was so great to catch up with Holly since we hadn't seen each other in months. A late lunch at Costa Vida is a good thing too.

Basically, I'm proud of myself. I know that achieving goals, whether big or small, is a part of life. It gives me something to look forward to and it is something through which I find satisfaction.

Who doesn't love feeling good about themselves?

  3. this is a goal of mine too right now. since we just moved into an area heavily populated with people in my same phase of life -- we are really trying to make an effort to meet the people in our ward.

it is such a hard thing for me though, to step out of my comfort zone. you are an inspiration!
