Last weekend I finally got caught up with laundry and dishes and overall housekeeping. Kev had jump started a couple of loads of clothes on Friday, so it really helped me stay motivated and do another four. Yes, FOUR more loads in addition to Kev's two.

While I was folding Kev's shirts, I started getting so nostalgic about our dating days. I was putting away shirts that he wore when we first met. They're getting worn out and a lot of them have been converted to work shirts. It made me sad to see some of my favorite shirts with little holes in them and paint stains all over them. I know they're just shirts, but they're shirts that have a lot of memories. I also love his Quicksilver flip flops (with the brand name scraped off) that he wore almost every day during the summer we met . And the sunglasses he always had clipped over the collar of one of his many black band tees.

Do you ever find yourself reminiscing when doing mundane tasks like folding laundry? It helps me prevent boredom as I fold the 26th shirt of the day and roll up the millionth pair of socks. And sometimes when I dust the front room I get so caught up in looking through the photos albums that I don't end up finished the chore at all. What's the point of having an album if you don't stop and look through it sometimes?

  1. I can't help but think about all the laundry you're going to have to do once the baby is born. We washed at least one load a day until Child was three or four. I'm so happy she can do her own laundry now!

  2. Clothes have big memories attached for me. I kind of want to learn how to sew so I can make one of those quilts composed of old clothes that I see others do.

  3. happens to me all the time, because caleb still insists on wearing the shirts he wore in high school! thankfully i've managed to send a few to the goodwill, but there are a few still in rotation, any and all writing having faded years ago. mostly i don't mind, but i have to draw the line when they're holey and bleached stained. or when they have holes in the crotch...
