I wonder what they'll call her on the playground.

I've had a few people ask me why I call my daughter "Penny."

Allow me to explain.

Yes, her name is Aspen. But how fun is it to always call someone by their full name? I love love love nicknames. I love them so much that I call Aspen "Maddie" (the dog's name) and "Sophia" (my sister's name) all the time. Oh wait, that's just because I'm a scatterbrain.

Back to "Penny."

asPEN.

PEN = Penny

Trust me, it's much better than the alternative (ASpen; AS = Assy).

    i love nicknames too. when v+i talk about our future childrens names, i always have to consider the nicknames and that often can yay or nay a name for me.

  3. Oh my gosh you got me laughing so hard at your alternative nickname! You can use it when she's older! Ha, ha, ha!

  4. I love the nickname Penny. My name never worked for nicknames, so I actually made sure both of the girl's names would work for nicknames. I always wanted a nickname, but somehow Dix should a whole lot like Assy. It just doesn't work.

  5. I'm confused as to how anyone was confused about "Penny." :) I think it's adorable.

    And good for you for choosing a nickname-friendly name. There's not very much you can do with "Heather," and I always felt a little left out.
