The hills are alive with the sound of music!

My friend SueAnn reminded me not to get discouraged when Aspen didn't sleep all night, every night. She reminded me that babies aren't consistent. Isn't it funny how sometimes I let myself believe that I can control Aspen's schedule?

Anyway, I didn't get too discouraged. I felt tired, I felt like maybe I sucked at sleep training. But I got over it and utilized some other tips from other moms. My friend, Amanda (WHO HAS TWINS WHO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT AT FOUR MONTHS!!) told me about bottle nipples designed for feeding rice cereal and I promptly bought a pack to put to use. I started feeding Aspen her watery rice cereal/breast milk right before bedtime, hoping her tiny tummy would be satisfied for a good portion of the night.

The first night I tried it, I woke up the next morning at 7:30am and realized no one had cried during the night for me and my chest was rock hard. I fed Aspen, pumped to even out, and then kissed that cereal bottle on the mouth.

This child is a delight and I love her, even though she hasn't given me that many hours of sleep since. She just loves me so much I know it must be hard to go 9 hours without seeing me and having a cuddle. I'm so proud of her. And me. I don't suck at sleep training my kid! Every night is a little different, but we're making progress.
