My success was not short-lived!

So, sleep training last Friday was a whopping success. Saturday was equally as impressive, but I suspect that Kev's unplanned, late-night return to the Pink House on Sunday caused a disruption in our system.

Aspen awoke a couple more times than usual, but I still kind of ignored her. When she wouldn't soothe on her own, I did eventually plug her back up with the binky. Because it's difficult to sleep when the boobs have gone a little while without seeing Aspen's sweet face, I didn't mind getting up. It gave me motivation to take care of the girls instead of tossing and turning in bed, unsuccessfully trying to get comfortable.



Although Kev coming home may have caused Aspen to wake more than usual, it was still a decent night's sleep. She seems to be slipping into the habit of waking up just once, around 3 or 4, and then again at 6. I'll slowly start to ease her out of the 6am eating so we sleep until 8 or 9 without interruptions. I'll tell you what, planning to get a full night of sleep is the most exciting thing I've ever done.

Feeling rested means my house is getting cleaned more often and more thoroughly. It means I have energy to make cookies and a good dinner (um, sometimes). It means we'll take advantage of 50 degree weather and go to the park with Maddie. It means I'm not going to cry myself to sleep in between 2 hour sleep intervals each night. It means Kev and I stay up stupid late and watch really bad reality TV together. It means Kev gets a happier family! Yea!

Again, many thanks to the other moms who offered advice and encouragement. We gotta back each other up, that's for sure. As long as I know other moms are ignoring their babies out there too, I don't feel badly for doing it to Aspen.

JUST KIDDING. If I really was ignoring my baby I wouldn't write about it here. One of my friends is a social worker and she totally reads this blog. Don't wanna get busted!
