Ogden WIC program

Fortunately (because we need it) and unfortunately (because it means we're poor) Kev, Aspen and I qualified for the Women, Infant, Children program in Ogden (aka WIC). It's wonderful to have assistance purchasing grocery staples like milk, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

The one thing I'm questioning is the suggestion to buy beans.

Really? Beans? I know it's great protein and all that, but Aspen has made it clear that Mama is NOT to eat beans while she is still breastfeeding. Since getting pregnant and having Aspen, I've had to limit my bean intake... which means I'm missing Costa Vida's sweet pulled pork burritos something fierce. It's just not the same without beans.

I know I could prepare meals with chickpeas or other types of lentils, but they're not as tasty. I want real beans. Real stinky beans.

If you're interested in the WIC program just check out the link. WIC offers assistance to pregnant women, breastfeeding women and to women whose children are a little older and eating solids (and then they offer assistance with purchasing formula and pureed foods). It's a wonderful program and the Ogden offices are brand-new, clean and friendly. We wouldn't be as well-fed and happy without it!
