A gift card is a terrible thing to waste.

A few weeks ago T-Mobile sent me a $25 gift card for being an awesome customer. Or something like that. I was psyched because I wanted to use it on our bill the next cycle. I stuffed the hot pink card in my wallet and basically wasted time not using it.

Aspen's newest, most-favoritest thing ever is to unpack my bag and wallet. This involves strewing about many coupons, the debit card, receipts, AND GIFT CARDS.

I took that stupid gift card away from her 100 times. I kept tucking it back in my wallet and back in my bag and back where she couldn't reach it. I distinctly remembering getting so fed up with trying to keep track of it that I removed it from my wallet altogether and (supposedly) put it somewhere safe.

At the beginning of August I wanted to pay the phone bill using the gift card. That's when I realized I had NOT put it somewhere safe. I had lost it. I couldn't even blame Aspen because I knew I had taken it from her, from the wallet and put it somewhere.

Isn't it so frustrating to know you've misplaced sometime important? I was so upset, even Paul was looking for it one night when he came over. I looked everywhere I could think of, even if it didn't make any sense. And then I gave up.

One day this week, after breakfast, Aspen and I wandered into her room to read some books and play with some toys in there. Guess what I found in the toy bin. Go on, just guess. THE GIFT CARD.

What the freak was it doing there? Perhaps I didn't take it away from her after all. Is it safe to blame her now?

Here's the best part though. I don't think I can use the gift card toward my bill. I think it has to be used on a phone or accessory; something tangible. So despite all my huffing and puffing and blowing the house down to find the card, I don't think I'll even use it. I'm gonig to stop by a retailer and see if I can apply it to my bill in person. Online doesn't give me any options to do so.

Don't that just beat all?

  1. Oh man, that sucks. I do that all the time. I will think I am putting it somewhere safe. Well, it must be so safe that I can't even find it. I'm glad you found it though and hope fully you can use it towards your bill. If not, that is totally lame.

  2. That is so frustrating. I hate when I do that. Usually I have a pretty good memory & know I'll remember but apparently not. At least you found it so thats good. Bailee loves playing in my wallet too.

  3. I am glad you found it! Although don't you just hate it when you can't blame anyone. Well there is always house elves.

Thanks for stopping by!
