A new spin on lunch

I took the plunge and decided to make lunch a little more fun. There's a blog with lots of great ideas, and even a link party, for Muffin Tin lunches.

It's simple to execute, and until I get a small (6-muffin) pan, for now Aspen enjoys her lunches in reusable, silicone baking cups. And they're shaped like flowers! Wee!

For our first try, she enjoyed a turkey dog and some home-made zucchini bread. For "dessert," she had apple/mango/carrot puree. It will take some adjusting, since Aspen is used to eating either off her tray or a plate. She dumped out the bread and preferred to eat it directly from her tray (when she wasn't throwing it on the floor).

I purchased the baking cups from Michael's using a 40% off coupon, and I'm glad I did. They're dishwasher safe so I can throw them in the wash instead of scrubbing a pan clean every day. I'll scour DI or another thrift store for a small muffin tin to use in the future as well. That might keep Aspen from just playing with the liners.

See? I can be a good mom when my kid isn't literally pulling my hair out of my head!

  2. I found ours at a garage sale last fall. BUT after I posted about finding ours on my blog my mom said she had the exact same one that I could have just had. She'd probably give it to you next time she's in the area for free if you'd like it.

  3. Those are very cute! I love muffin tin lunches, but I've never gotten the nice, cute stuff to do them all of the time.
