Ain't about what's waiting on the other side / It's the cliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimb.

One day last week, I caught Aspen trying to climb into her crib. She can almost make it if she climbs onto the arm of the nursing chair first. If she knew about momentum, she would totally fling herself over the rail and find success. But, thankfully, she doesn't understand basic laws of physics yet.

To satisfy her need to climb (I wonder where she gets that, KEVIN?!) I made her a pillow mountain in the living room. It's safe to say she freakin' loved it.

It was one of those hot days, and we didn't have the swamp cooler installed yet. This little climber was huffing and puffing and sweating like a piggy. It was a great way to wear her out and work up an appetite for dinner.
Thank goodness I could channel her energy into something that doesn't involve her figuring out how to get into and out of her crib by herself.

Also, while she climbed, I was able to keep reading through my old journals. I'm trying to refresh my memory and collect my thoughts so I can keep writing about my story here on the blog. At some point though, I think I need to stop on the blog and start with a manuscript. Like, to write a book.

It feels a little like trying to climb Aspen's pillow mountain. At first I'm completely overwhelmed. Then I think, hey, this could be fun! Then I want to cry. Then I convince myself I can do it. Then I'm laying down, exhausted by all of it. So we'll see what happens.

Any advice on writing a memoir would be greatly appreciated. Or, y'know, hookups in publishing.

  1. OH, that is so exciting about possibly writing a book. I would totally read it. I love the pillow mountain. I should do that with my boys. :)

  2. That is such a great idea with the cushions. You are so good at finding safe and healthier alternatives to fulfill a desire in a child that typically ends in tears. Good luck on the book. That is so exciting. I am sure you will do a great job.
