Life Well Lived and a giveaway

BlogHer wants to know how I dress for my shape, and how I make my wardrobe work through transitions (like, say, gaining 40 pounds while pregnant?). So! Let's get sharing!

I'm slightly pear-shaped, so I consider my lower half when choosing clothing. I like curve-flattering pencil skirts and skinny jeans to celebrate my shape without too much extra volume. Also? I define my natural waist by tucking in shirts, adding belts, or wearing empire-waist tops. To lengthen my pear-shaped lower half, I love love love heels. I don't wear them every day, but when I get the chance to dress up, you'll find me about 4 inches taller thanks to my shoes.

When I was pregnant, I was also working full-time in a business casual environment. To save money and avoid buying ugly maternity clothes, I wore a lot of dresses I already owned. To keep the length modest and comfortable, I wore leggings and tights. That made the dress last that much longer while accommodating a baby bump. I also wore belly bands to keep pre-pregnancy pants in my wardrobe as long as possible. I did buy a few skirts and two pairs of maternity dress pants to add to my work-wear, but I made sure to get things that would keep growing with me full-term.
