Mama's little helper

After way too many days, I finally made it to the store. It seems like I might have stopped grocery shopping the minute we decided we were moving, so we almost literally have no food. Also... some/a lot of our pantry-items are still in boxes because there is absolutely no where to store any food in our house. It makes sense now why the owner told me his wife used the crawl space under the stairs as food storage. But I refuse to CRAWL into that unlit closet to find a can of corn/box of cereal/fruit snack when I need it.

So. Anyway. I went to Wal-Mart because it's just down the street from our new house (there's yet another clue as to how ghetto this place is). I realized that I haven't shopped at Wal-Mart for a full-fledged grocery run in a very long time. The Pink House in Ogden is around the corner from Smith's, so I did my shopping there (plus redeemed $1/off coupons for gas based on my grocery spending!).

Wal-Mart is good for lots of things. Like, a quick run in for a cheap item here and there. I didn't know that while abstaining from regular Wal-Mart shopping, I became a grocery store snob. I was kind of horrified trying to shop there. Isn't it weird that Ogden, which is often referred to as 'the armpit of Utah' turned me into a judgy-mcjudgerson?

I digress. What I really wanted to share is something cute about Aspen at Wal-Mart. Duh.

She insisted on walking in the store, so I obliged. I just have to pick my battles, people. If she walked, she didn't yell. I win! So she's walking and we're looking for tuna fish and I stop the cart to find the kind I want. Aspen walks a few steps down the aisle and then asks, "How 'bout dis?" And I'm all... "whaaaaa? Where did you learn that cuteness?!"

Somewhere she picked up that phrase and she proceeded to use it while we shopped. "How 'bout dis?" she'd ask while holding a box of scalloped potatoes. "How 'bout dis?" when I opened the freezer door for lactose-free ice cream sandwiches. "How 'bout dis?" as we walked by the produce.

It was so cute I wanted to buy everything she suggested. So maybe it was a good thing we were at Wal-Mart, where everything is cheap.

  1. I love when they say the cutest thing in the right context! Today Jesse was eating some pez, which Bodee cannot have-Well Bodee reached from them and Jesse replied, "You're mama said no." In the sweetest voice. It was so cute and I giggled and let Jesse in on a little secret, I am Bodee's mama too. :)

  2. That is pretty adorable. It would be hard to resist her suggestions.

Thanks for stopping by!
