Some things are worth the drive

The WJ Library and adjoining City Park are at least 20 minutes from my house (and half of that drive is on Bangerter Hwy) but it's really worth the trek. I guess I'm so bothered by the travel time because in Ogden I had museums, parks, the river, the grocery store and friends within a 5-minute radius. All this driving in WJ is a super-huge and annoying adjustment.

But this amazing park and brand-new library are so worth it. Aspen even climbed the tallest tower and rode the twisty slide down with me. And then proceeded to go down a less-intimidating slide all by herself about eleventy-billion times.

Each time she climbed to the top, she would yell down to me "I CATCH YOU, MOMMY!" or "ALL BY MYSELF, MOMMY!" She was so proud to be like a big kid and have fun without me holding her hand. Which, frankly, was a relief because I can only climb up a playground so many times before I'm bored.

The WJ Library (the glass building behind Aspen swinging) is awesome and I wish I'd remembered to bring the right paperwork with me when we visited it last week. I need to get us hooked up with a library card so each week when we visit the activity time we can load up on books. Aspen has been refusing ALL her books lately, which makes getting ready for bed really not fun. She literally shakes her head "no" to every suggestion. Pretty soon I'm going to start reading some of my books to her.

We did make the last half of activity time at the WJ lib, and it was held in a beautiful glass-walled room. Aspen referred to the teacher as "New Deb" the entire time and refused to ask her real name. We'll see how long we can get away with calling her New Deb over the next few weeks.

  1. That playground looks awesome, reminds me of the one in Coeur D'Alene. Glad you found a library & fun play ground even though its a drive.

  2. That looks awesome! I love that park, it looks so unique. You're totally right even though some drives suck major some days it's just worth it! It takes FOREVER to get anywhere around here too, so obnoxious. We have a membership at the children's museum here which is like 1/2 as big as the Treehouse but it takes us 30 min. each way with all the lights. People don't really realize how cool Ogden can be until you leave it behind and realize how convienant so many things are.

  3. Ditto on the park. That is incredible. It looks like so much fun. I would say it is definitely worth the drive.
