Helping me reach my City Creek quota

I'm so glad Aspen isn't sick anymore because 1) she's a happier person and 2) we can go in public and see other human beings again. SueAnn, Milo and Ella met us at City Creek for a play date last week and we rocked that dinosaur playground like you wouldn't believe. Milo showed off his cool tricks and awesome dance moves and actually inspired Aspen to stop being whiny and get up off the bench.

I don't know why, but she gets all sorts of timid at playgrounds. She'll climb up even the smallest of slides, sit at the top and proceed to FREAK OUT! because it's SO SCARY! She might just be reenacting a scene from one of her Caillou books, but I'm not sure.

Awkward first date. With moms looking on. I actually waited a few minutes for another mom to get out of the way so I could take this photo without her checking her phone on the other side of that wall.

I took us on a detour to Forever21 so I could get some THREE DOLLAR SUNGLASSES (holla!) and then we walked to the Temple grounds to have our picnic lunch. I love walking around City Creek and surrounding areas because it's so big and clean and open and airy and shiny.

Aspen and Milo loved loved loved playing in the water at the Temple, and running around making old people worry. Milo has a tendency to run faster than you can so he gets a little ahead of me while I drag/help Aspen keep up. More than one business-suit-clad person stopped to tell Milo to go find his mommy while I watched from a few feet away. I was like, hey, he's with me and I'm really responsible.

The weather was perfect and the kids had fun, so it was a good day. I look forward to moving from West Jordan though (duh!) because it took 35 minutes just to get to Salt Lake from outer darkness where I live. UGH. I seriously lay awake at night, unable to sleep, because I'm thinking about how much time we have to spend in the car the next day just to go to the library/grocery store/mail box (ok, that last one is an exaggeration).

Hopefully we can find a place in a better location so I can consider getting a pass to somewhere fun to help us stay entertained and warm during the winter. From what I can tell, there isn't anything available in West Jordan/Kearns/WVC unless the Kennecott Mine does tours.

  1. I realize that I am pointing out the absolute most obvious thing in the history of the universe, but HOLY SMOKES does that Milo look like his daddy. Sheesh. It's like now I know exactly what it would've looked like to play at that playground with my friends (including her Kev) in the 8th grade, only these two are shorter.

  2. It freaks me out how much Milo looks like his Kev.

Thanks for stopping by!
