Mama Style

The day after Thanksgiving, Aspen and I finally made the short walk to the school playground by our house. She had hoped Uncle Seth would take her on actual Thanksgiving, but we got so busy playing other things and eating chocolate pudding that we never made it.

I really like feeling put together and dressed up, even if it's only a playground day. I can just as easily run around with Aspen in boots as I can in sneakers. My velvet skinnies are just as comfortable as sweatpants (except after that big plate of leftovers) and putting on a necklace is just as easy as not.

It's not silly to do your make up simply so you can go out and jump on fallen leaves with your two-year-old. There's nothing wrong with swiping a teeny tiny bit of mascara on her eyelashes, either (sorry, Kev!). When Aspen sees me getting reading in the morning, she takes an interest in it. She asks for her own make up brush or sponge, and she even finds something to use as pretend hairspray (for her Zebra on this particular day). I like to think she's learning about confidence, and taking some pride in one's appearance.

When I do my hair, she wants me to do hers, too. When I trim and clean my nails, she wants me to do hers, too. It's really a win-win.

So, that is why I take the time to change out of my yoga pants and old college tees every day. Aspen is why I still want to be made up and ready for every day possible.

  1. You look so cute!! Love this sweater! And your girl is darling!

  2. Love your outfit and Aspen is SO cute!!

  3. Yay. I can comment again. I love that your friends confidence radiated even when showing herself not made up and just waking up for the day. You can tell that she is confident and naturally beautiful. I too have a necklace very similiar to the one you are wearing. My necklace is teal and I just purchased another one in rose and one as a gift for my SIL. I love your style and I love that you give me ideas on outfits to put together from my own closet. I hope you don't mind that I post some of my outfit ideas. You and others have inspired me. :)

  4. You look so cute!!! Sweater -love! Necklace - love! Boots - definitely LOVE!

  5. Great pictures, love your necklace too!

  6. I had a hard time choosing which color to purchase for this necklace because I love so many. But for now, pink it is!

Thanks for stopping by!
