Wednesday Wishlist

I haven't yet jumped on the bandwagon when it comes to peplum tops, but I'm seeing them everywhere.

They are so flattering and a nice alternative to a tunic or embellished tee when you want to do something a little different but still comfortable. What do you think? Do you already have a peplum-style top? And are you so on top of things that you have a peter-pan-collar-peplum-top? Because if you are, that's pretty amazing. Take me shopping with you!

  1. I just cannot hop on the peplum bandwagon. I just am not a fan of them. I really don't find them flattering at all really. Buttttt that's just me. :)

  2. Honestly, I'm a little afraid of peplum, personally. I think the proportions would have to be JUST RIGHT for it to look great. And I just can't do the peter pan collar. There are so many more flattering (for me!) neck lines in the world.

I will tell you what makes me really happy about many styles right now, though-- and this is coming from someone who gets in a total rut sometimes with nothing but a million cardigans to wear. I love that so many current styles are FEMININE. There's lace and floral and embroidery and it all just feels lovely. I am so glad that lighter, flowy-er styles are fashionable. For a girl with curves like me, I am celebrating that a plain, skin-tight cap sleeve isn't the epitome of style right now like it was a couple of years ago!

Also, let's all give a bit shout of hallelujah about all the plum around stores right now. I'm basically sure 100% of people on the planet look great in plum. We should all be wearing it all the time.

  3. I always have a lot of purple/plum in my closet, which, I dunno, might be subconsciously related to WSU or something. For whatever reason, I love it and wear it often.

I do agree that peplum might be tricky if you don't get just the right fit. But sometimes the hunt of the perfect top is half the fun!

  4. I don't have a peter pan collared peplum top, but I do have the same peplum top in six different colors because I love it THAT much. I just think it's super flattering for my body shape...so of course I'd buy it in fifty different colors!

  5. @Chelsea, I do the same thing! When Forever21 had a sale ($5 tees) a few years ago, I seriously bought ten different colors.

  6. i find peplum to be tricky. and maybe i just haven't found the right fit, but i think it would be unflattering on me. my torso is too long, and i think i'd be too self-consious the entire time, tugging at it to make sure its covering me well. it can be cute, but for me its not working. i do love me a good peter pan collar though! i think they are so dainty + feminine + darling.

  7. I have a hard time with tops because I have a long torso and I do not like my shirts to appear short. For your previous question...We too draw names and it makes shopping easier and funner. Jesse wanted a computer and a guitar among other things.

  8. I love peplum tops! I think they are so cute, but you definitely need the right one. I tried one on at Kohl's the other day and was so sad because it looked terrible.
