Make your own Mineral Veil

I recently switched to a Mary Kay liquid powder foundation, but I continued to use my BareMinerals Veil over the top as a finishing powder. I've loved the look, but not the $20 price tag for the tiny container.

Randomly scanning through Pinterest and blogs, I had seen tips for making Mineral Veil for super-cheap, but it wasn't until one of my friends told me she does it that I decided I'd take the plunge when my container ran out.

If you look at the ingredients, Mineral Veil is mostly cornstarch. Just plain ol' cornstarch. Which is super-cheap. For a little color you can add some powdered foundation (from a compact or in my case, from my BareMinerals stash I stopped using), but that's just an option if you're uber-pale like me and want a little color in the dead of winter.

To make your own, just mix up the following:

1 T cornstarch
1 tsp baby powder
1/4 tsp colored foundation (optional)

I'm storing mine if my empty Mineral Veil case and so far I like it. It can go on a little heavy, so watch out for the cake-face-look and make sure to tap that brush before using it.
