Disclosure: I have been compensated for my participation in this BlogHer Book Club discussion, but the opinions expressed are 100% my own.

After reading last month's book for BlogHer's book club, Jen Lancaster's Here I Go Again was a welcome change of pace. It required a lot less thinking and analyzing and planning. It's definitely a beach/vacation read that you can easily get through in a couple of days (or maybe less if you don't have a small human to take care of during the day like me).

Here I Go Again is a story about how being the b!$%# in high school can totally come back to bite you in the butt when you enter the real world and grow up. Lissy Ryder is the shiz when she's 17, and still thinks she's the most amazing thing ever 20 years later. The only problem is that her marriage is actually not doing so hot, she sucks at her job and everyone hates her.

Luckily (depending on how you look at it) for Lissy, she gets a chance to see how her future could be different if she had behaved herself in high school. An old classmate helps her do a little time travel so she can practice having a conscience and treat others like actual human beings instead of pawns in her game of life.

Lancaster conveniently allows Lissy to travel multiple times into her past to fix her mistakes and fine-tune her future to benefit not only herself, but her friends and family. Yes, it's kind of silly and obviously far-fetched, but it's fun. That's the point of a beach read, right? You get to check out for a little while. If you need something to give you a break from your more serious literature, this is perfect. Or if you need something to get you through a plane ride or stint in a waiting room, this is it.

Would you ever consider going back to high school? You can chime in HERE.
