It's your lucky day.

On Friday I followed Kev over to Home Depot and we argued talked about tile for a while before heading over to our little Lucky House. I spent a couple of hours raking the yard while Kev got to work prepping the master bathroom for its facelift.

Aspen kept herself busy riding her bike on the patio, picking up rotten apples, and moving dirt around the yard. It was awesome. She and Maddie mostly stayed out of the way of me and my rake so I got a lot done.

Raking also gave me time to mull over our tiling options and I came up with a mood board to get some much-needed feedback from all y'all for the colors that are rattling around in my head.

The wall color will most-likely be Peacock Blue by Glidden, and the shower surround will be a white subway tile (photo sourced HERE). Kev does not want an all-white shower, so we need something to serve as an accent/shower floor. I want something in a blue/blue-grey but I'm not sure which style to go with- something very obviously matchy-matchy with the peacock walls or something more subtle.

What do you think? Something like option #1 or more like option #2? Whatever we choose, it will fully line the floor of our master shower, and will be cut into strips for an accent running around the shower at some height-to-be-determined-later.

And as a frame of reference, there is a large window in the bathroom to keep it light and bright, and the existing floor tile in the rest of the room will be replaced with large, white tile (due to rotting sub-floor). The master bedroom will be painted a steel grey (as will the majority of the house) so that will help tie in the grey tile we end up using in the bathroom.

Let me know what you'd want to stand on in your shower every day and help me decide!

  1. I'd pick #2 if it was mine... just because it looks more soft and oceany. And yes, I'd probably use those words at the store and Russ would look at me like I'm nuts lol.

  3. I think option two would be best. I think you could match more colors with option one. Say, if you moved and someone was not in love with the bold peacock color. I think they would have more options with number one. As will you if your grow tired of the blue. I really like to change it up so I like to stay a little more neutral with permanent fixtures. Best of luck. Whatever you do I am sure it will be fabulous.

  4. Ooo fun! I can't wait until Ethan and I have a house and have decorating issues to argue about :) Lol. I would definitely go with #2! I LOVE it.

  6. Hmmm. I was convinced everyone would say option 1, because that's what I love, but now I'm wondering ... No, definitely 1. Option 2 looks less professional to me with the possibility of looking dated sooner.

  7. I love #2, it openings up accent options and seems to feel more pulled together. Love the color choices!

  8. I really like them both, but I think I lean more towards #1. Good luck! I can't wait to see the finished product!

  9. I vote #2. It is so fun. I am excited to see how you finish it all. I'm sure isn't fun for you guys to do the remodeling, but as a bystander, I am excited to watch your house come together.
