Pony practice

Aspen has been a little obsessed with My Little Pony the last few months. It's escalated to the point I have to refer to her as "Pony" or she'll pitch a fit. For 6 months while we lived in West Jordan I had to call her "Princess Stephanie" so I'm hopeful this element of the obsession will be short-lived, too. I have a hard enough time remembering to call her Aspen that throwing in an alternate persona is just too much for me! Her nursery leaders, bless their hearts, call her "Pony" for 2 solid hours every Sunday and I'm so impressed with them.

We've been spending a couple of hours (seriously, HOURS) every few days drawing and painting in the kitchen together. Aspen is getting amazing at drawing little people and I've been practicing for her Pony-themed birthday party later this month. I plan to have a big pin-the-tail-on-the-pony game and I'm just going to draw it myself. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty awesome at copying Rainbow Dash when looking at another drawing.

And seriously. We're all relieved over here that Pinky Pie isn't Aspen's favorite. Not only is that pony hard to draw, but she's pretty annoying. And to warn you, Aspen is convinced Rainbow Dash is a boy, so don't try to argue that point with her. Unless, of course, you want to RUIN HER BIRTHDAY.

The best news about doing a Rainbow Dash MLP party is that I can reuse all the rainbow-themed stuff from last year. AND we don't live in a cat-pee-soaked rental this year so I won't be so embarrassed to have people over! Winning!
