Boots Botanics Clay Mask from Influenster

botanics clay mask review, influenster product review

Like I mentioned earlier this week, I received the J'adore VoxBox from Influenster last week and have been reviewing the complimentary products it contained. The day the box arrived, I opened this Botanics mask just to smell it, and it squirted all over my hand. I haven't used a clay mask in a looooong time, but I'm pretty sure the consistency is supposed to be thicker than water. So I put it back in the box and was weary to test it out.

When Kev was gone late one night, I decided to take over the bathroom and do a little extra pampering. I tried shaking up the container to see if the mask would mix up or something but that definitely didn't do the trick. It was watery when I squeezed it onto my fingers and it mostly splashed into the sink. I could tell it was trying really hard to be clay-like in texture, but it just couldn't seem to hold it together. There's definitely a thicker lump of product in there, but until I get all the liquid out, I don't get to use any of it!

Despite the struggle to actually get product on my fingers, I managed to put a thin layer on my face (the directions say to apply generously, but there was no way that was happening without pouring it directly on my face!). After that struggle, it was just like any other clay mask- it hardened in a few minutes and it washed off easily. I felt a freshness to my face and later in the following day, some of my blemishes seemed less noticeable to me.

So while the product was a huge hassle to apply, I think it has the potential to be an effective mask. Recommended use is once a week, so I think I'll give it another go to see if I can get to the thicker parts. But after that I'm definitely too lazy to keep fighting with it! If I had purchased this mask and it performed like this, I'd return it to the store, though. It's just not what I'm looking for when it comes to ease of use, even if this all-natural mask is intended to be this consistency.

  1. What a bummer! But at least it worked I guess. Maybe if you massage the bottle and try to mix it up that way? Good luck for next time!
