The day I almost left Aspen with the wild animals at the zoo
A lot of the safari animals are moved at the zoo now, and I was happy to see some of the new exhibits earlier this week. I'm looking forward to the giraffes getting their new habitat because they just keep getting shuffled from one sad place to another. It's about time they had some more space.
Aspen and I went with Kim and her girls on Monday and I got a lot of great photos of them staring at things. Just be thankful I didn't take any videos of the various meltdowns they had throughout the morning.
One real treat for me was once again seeing the peacock open up his fan. I just love it so much. He kept slowly spinning in a circle, seemingly trying to draw a crowd. We were snacking right next to him and enjoyed watching him show off.
After this outing, however, I vowed that I wasn't leaving the house again for a loooong time. Aspen has been giving me what I'm sure is just a preview of what life will be like after her brother is born. She is constantly having tantrums and making our lives very unpredictable right now. It's been a rough few weeks dealing with her frequent meltdowns and I'm getting pretty worn out. There is nothing fun about being this pregnant and having to drag a kicking and screaming toddler out of church/the zoo/the store/etc...
So hopefully Aspen enjoyed her summer while it lasted. Because I'm not subjecting myself to more public outburst than are absolutely vital for our survival.
