First and last swim day of summer
When I asked Aspen what she'd like to do with her grandparents for her birthday, I gave her some options. I thought she'd like to go to the new aquarium in Draper, or have a swim day, or perhaps visit the zoo with them. She chose to go swimming, since she's been talking about it all summer and we haven't even been once. I guess being a million years pregnant and then having a new baby makes it hard to get to the pool.
Thankfully, I'm on maternity leave for my job at the rec center, so we get a discount at the pool. Even better, the outdoor pool is heated! I was so excited to find out the water is warm I almost forgot I was getting my seven-weeks-postpartum body into a swimsuit for the first time.
Gail ended up being able to come with us, but Marc had to stay home with my grandpa. They enjoyed some leisure time at home while us girls and Linc lounged at the pool. Linc slept the entire time, except when he was being fed, burped and changed. It worked out well so Gail and I could take turns sitting with him and playing with Aspen.
The pool is so awesome and I wish our schedule had been better this summer for more swim time. I was surprised when Aspen said she wanted to try the giant slide. It's four stories tall and she is usually so cautious and nervous. But we went down three times together and only took a break because the line got too long.
I don't think I'm brave enough to go back by myself this summer, but we'll see. It was a lot of fun and it never got overly-crowded while we were there. My favorite part of the day was when Aspen turned to me and said I was the best mom ever for taking her swimming. She loved it so much.
